I thought Rider has a pretty young group and they lost their stud pitcher last year.

Rider loses their stud pitcher every year...Bobbitt will have the pitchers ready to compete.

Watched some of these teams play this weekend and in scrimmages. Denton Ryan and Denton High stood out to me the most. As for Rider, The Colony, Guyer, and Lake Dallas they all seem pretty even. Should be interesting to watch. All were very average offensively and defensively.

Who are the standout pitchers and position players for these programs?

Denton Ryan has one of the best young arms in the country with Young only being a Junior. I think he was Denton ryans standout quarterback if I remember right.

I am going to take Ryan in game #1 this week.

Guyer without Kottman can't hold Ryan bats, but if it works out in the 2nd round they will go with Kottman for the title.

Maybe, one of the WF schools can clip a game from the leader to make that last game for all of the marbles.

Guyer and The Colony has a little brush. The main story says the TC kid(s) crowded the plate on the Guyer ace and was told to move back by the umpire. One kid got plunked three times?

Can this be right? Coaches, let's hear what you think if it is true.

Luckily, with a change or new interpretation of the HBP rules, our umpires are no longer awarding 1st base to a hitter that does not make a "significant effort" to avoid being hit. I have seen many instances in our local HS games where a player has been instructed to return to the box and continue the AB. Kudos to Coach Kinzy for having helped a strong physical pitcher develop a strong mental approach to this part of the game. How did we ever let that guy get out of Lubbock??

Denton High beats Ryan behind Abel and Rider tops Guyer at home with sophomore pitcher who is 3-0 in district. 3,4,5 could get interesting.
