I can tell you that
1) yes steroids are being used
2) I've known them to be used at all levels
3) not only the "best" players are the ones using.
4) family money seems to not be an issue (keeping/helping a kid get them)

I am for steroid testing because it's something... it's not everything, and I don't think it's going to solve the entire problem. However, it may solve the problem/prevent the problem for one kid, and that is doing a job right there. I can honestly say that at my high school, I don't know any baseball players taking 'em; however, the perception among the students is if you're a baseball player then you take steroids--(I may need to add, unless you are a 5ft 8in 160lbs kid). Kids joke about it, a lot, and how it relates to this sport specifically. This is a step... and a step to not be complacent with.

For anyone whom it bothers, I apologize for the sloppy grammar... school is out and I just got my grades--no worrying anymore!
I agree with Dtiger-

At Jesuit people accuse many baseball players of taking 'roids'. They percieve baseball as a tainted sport now, and it hurts the image not only at the major league level, but the high school one as well.

I think that this testing will help prevent the steroids to some extent, and deter some kids from trying it, and like KM said, one kid is payment enough.

IMO
He is claiming that a lot of things will go down now that steroid testing will be used.

This is a good step but steroids isn't the only problem...I know of use of steroids and others used more often in football though. To me, it's mainly gossip in the baseball world, perhaps maybe we can now know for sure if someone is/isn't taking something they shouldn't be.

Do you want to expand on this now?
