Any insight out there, off the top of folks head or through experience, which programs traditionally have offensive minded teams...either because of program itself or because home park may lead to more offense?

- Thought process here, one of many factors so dont dogpile!, is that my son has aspirations of going D1 but is not yet getting the love...if we consider as a factor programs emphasis on offense maybe that will give him the ability to put up some bigger numbers for looks down the line.

Again...one of many factors..we understand importance of emphasis on education and coaching itself and facilities and off time recreation and so forth....

My son is a freshman at NCTC.  Their emphasis is both on offence and pitching.  My son had multiple offers within this conference but coach showed him the most love.  Also they stress grades (which made me happy) and have been in the top 10 or 20 just about every year on GPA for Div. 1 Juco.  Just might want to check them out.  Also many of the graduates go on to Big 12 and Sec schools.  Also they do not over recruit.

I don't have experience with JUCO's...but Navarro has always been strong. Close to Dallas for weekend jaunts back home, good academics, D-1. They typically draft several year in-year out, & send many to D-1 Big 12 & SEC schools...Skip Johnson was the pitching coach for years, currently on staff with Augie. Maybe others will chime in on hitting...They won regionals this year.

Have heard good things on Howard (Big Spring) & Grayson (Denison), too.

Good luck!!

A lot of great JC programs in Texas, also in Louisiana and Oklahoma.  Some of the most well known are Navarro, Grayson, San Jacinto and Howard.  But there are plenty of more that do a great job of moving players on to D1 programs...Angelina, North Central, Northeast, Bossier Parish, Midland...just to name a few. For example, if I am not mistaken, two of the starters on last year's Mississippi State College World Series team were alumni of the Panola College Ponies.  Most of the school websites have a section for athletics and you can find where the baseball program has sent former players.

I would say that if your son can hit, he will get an opportunity to play.  From my observations, most JUCO teams always run short on hitters.  Especially with the new bats.  Make sure your son understands what he is signing up for before committing.  Junior Colleges are normally "bare bones" operations and a lot of responsibility is placed on the player both athletically and academically. Most of the facilities are nice but do not compare to a big D1 program.  Additionally, while your son's former high school classmates are going to football games and living it up next fall, his social opportunities will not be as robust.

That said, if your son is looking for an opportunity to advance his baseball career and can take care of his business, I am a firm believer in JUCO baseball in Texas and the surrounding states.  Look at the rosters of the baseball teams in the Big 12, SEC, Conference USA, Southland Conference, etc. and you will normally find a good amount of former junior college players listed.

Good luck!

Outstanding info by all. My son had early interest by some D1's with fabulous facilities and since then we have visited some bare bones JUCO facilities.  He, and I, understand the challenges JUCO's face with less funding and scholarships.  This doesnt mean it wont be a fruitful endeavor if we go that route.  We are just trying to make the most informed decision possible.  Interest from several JUCO's in and out of state but just want to ensure we look at all variables to ensure he is appealing to a higher level institution after 1 or 2 years of JUCO ball.  A friend had alluded to taking a good look at the home field and how it would affect his numbers...after all...its a game of numbers.

Thanks again for the great help!
