I worked this summer for these guys (1B coach with the FW Cats). Byron Pierce owns all the teams in the United Independent Baseball League...including the Fort Worth Cats. I know he plans on expanding the league, so they will be looking for players.

The guys assoiciated with this league are veterans of professional baseball, both independent and MLB. Just like the various "select" baseball organizations out there, these guys are making a living also...so don't expect them to work for nothing. They place guys in professional baseball at the independent league level, as well as with Major League Baseball.

If you want a chance to showcase your ability over an extended period of time (rather than a 1 or 2 day tryout), then this league gives someone that opportunity...opportunity...that is the key word. This IS NOT MEN'S LEAGUE BASEBALL!. The players in the United League (and the FW Cats in particular) for the most part have at one time or another played affiliated minor league baseball. I saw a few guys this summer that played in the big leagues at some point in their career.

I suggest you give them a call and speak to them personally. They are great people!
