I have been doing alot of college searching lately and Vanderbilt has caught my interest. I know that they had the best recruiting class this year, so I just wanted to know how strong they are academicly.
Vanderbilt has a very strong academic background. To get into Vanderbilt I'm pretty sure you have to have a 90+ average, and top 15% in your class I believe.
Vanderbilt is a very high academic institution. Although the reputation may not be as high as the "Ivies", for instance, it is not far behind. It would be comparable to Tulane, Rice, Duke, Stanford, etc.
We did an unofficial visit to Vandy. The SAT average for the univerity was over 1400. Every student that we talked to seemed like they were number 1 or 2 in their graduating class. Small enrollment of Undergraduates students.
You don't get much higher, academically, than Vanderbilt. ...the Harvard of the south. We hear over and over from friends of our children (and children of our friends) how these kids at Vandy once thought they were smart. Now they find themselves in the middle of the pack, or possibly struggling to keep up. ...an experience shared by my wife, a Vanderbilt grad, class of 19...something!
