Today is youth sports.

Everyone's feeling the pinch. I bought a box of game balls for the team this weekend since the school isn't providing enough and I don't want the coach to have to shell out. (My son already bats leadoff and plays SS so I don't think anyone sees it as a bribe

) I was talking to the owner about how tight everyone is..(here's the game ball for today, don't lose it..

) It sometimes takes a humorous turn...One HS field is next to a golf course water hazard. When a ball gets fouled into the pond, it produces a mad scramble to retrieve it before it gets ruined. Wasn't like that in the past...

Now every ball is treated like gold....
