In the fall of 1985, I coached my oldest son for the first time. It was a neighborhood s****r league. Neither he nor I knew much about what we were doing. It, nonetheless, was great fun.

On Thursday at the Connie Mack World Series I helped coach my youngest son for what was the very last time that I will coach any of my four children. By now, I know a lot more about it, and it also was great fun. So was all of the (uninterrupted) coaching/organizing in between.

I find it to be a significant milestone of many, many, many things.

Fortunately, I now have a grandson (nearly 4 years old) who might be able to benefit from all of the lessons learned of the past quarter-century.
