It was truly exciting last Thursday when the Dixie tryout registration form arrived! Tryouts will be held on Feb 18th, the letter stated.

My son will be moving up to Majors and all of his hard work this off season is paying off. He worked hard on his hitting, long toss and running...running...running.

Yesterday, we made our trek to the barren baseball fields to workout as we have done on an almost daily basis since last July. He completed his BP and started his long toss when all of a sudden another vehicle arrived and a couple of kids piled out. They were carrying baseball bags!!

We hadn't seen another ball player since last summer. So this was a more telling sign of spring approaching then a red brested robin!

They said hi and their "coach/dad" asked if they could share the field with us. We said "Of course!". Well, several minutes went by and another car arrived and another and another. We now had enough kids to fill the infield, outfield and take BP! Several of the Major's coaches showed up during the afternoon as well.

It was so much fun watching those kids play ball again after such a long break from baseball.

What a blast!!

My son has worked so hard this off season and he showed it during BP. He hit 5 off the fence, one off the yellow cap and 2 out of the park. He was just beaming! What a great reward for all of his hard work.

It was just a great...

Congrats. Sounds like a fun spring coming up. Makes me almost want to have a couple more, almost. Make sure you get strongs hitters to hit in front and behind him. Big Grin
Callaway ...

I don't frequent this forum much with an "oldster" for a youngin' but have two thoughts I would like to share with you:

(1) Brag away, Callaway !!! (Most of us love to hear about the accomplishments of other posters' children and it allows us to re-visit and relive some of our own fond memories.)

(2) Congrats to young Callaway as it seems his hard work is paying great dividends. This will also inspire some of his peers, I am sure.

Keep us posted on the season.
