From the above link:

"Concordia-Austin (1-0) scored four runs in the sixth to take the lead enroute to a 9-6 victory over Houston Baptist in the last season opener for Concordia University at Keller-Faszholz Field."

Interesting stuff. The losing team, Houston Baptist, is playing its first year of Division 1 baseball. Previously they competed in NAIA.
Limestone College (D2) scored 2 runs in the bottom of the 8th en route to a 2-1 win over Lynchburg College (D3)in the season opener for both clubs. Both clubs got great pitching from all 3 pitchers each team used.

The game marked the 20th anniversary of the Limestone program, with program founder and first coach Gaylord Perry and team members from the first 4 years in attendance. Perry threw out the first pitch.

Game two of the two-game series is Sunday.

Hey, eat your heart out at the D-1's, the D III season is underway.

Of course, D I gets to play more games (56-42), the season goes later (a mixed blessing), and Rosenblatt is a bit more exposed on ESPN than the D III World Series in Wisconsin (but a very well done affair in its own right), but for a couple of weeks anyway, the D III's are the only game in town.

Kudos to JT,Jr. for having a good weekend and starting Lynchburg's season with a base hit, although they dropped two nail biters to D II Limestone.
