The kind of father coaches hate...

I always thought that the only Dad a coach hates is one who didn't produce a blue chipper.

I bet the coaches shook there heads every time he called, emailed or showed up at the game.

But they still started Tim. Once again, talent wins.

You'll notice that at the pro level, the dad watches it on TV.

I'm sure the Giants coaches and upper management are very cool with that .

There are probably more than a few HS coaches who wish their players' fathers would do the same .

Sometimes some of these posted topics are ridiculous and one wonders if the ideas come from the disgruntled

Sorry Old Slugger, I didn't see it as parent bashing. Lincecum Sr has been documented many times as a bit over the top. I never had a problem with it. It takes all types to make this world an interesting place and I always appreciate characters.

I think that coaching your son is okay through HS...

At that point you have to let go and let your teaching and your son's ingrained muscle memory/habits speak for themselves. If you did a good job in teaching the fundamentals it will shine through. If you didn't that will show up and the results will speak for themselves.

It's like the scripture says bring up your child in the path he should go and he will not depart from it. Means teach your son the discipline required to be good at anything and when he matures he will adhere to the principles.
