This isn't a baseball story. It's a great professional sports and life story. It could be a baseball story. It just happens to be a hockey player. I'm sure plenty of baseball players have lived the same story.

People think being a professional athlete is all rainbows and unicorns. What if you're marginal, traded again and again and again, married and have kids?

I just hope that people remember me as more than a fighter. In fact, I hope they remember me as more than a hockey player and a good teammate. If I had this on my tombstone, I would be happy:

Here lies John Scott.
He tried not to be a dick.
And he was a good dad.
