Ted "Big Daddy" Nowell Sr. passed away early this morning. Big Daddy was the father of Ted Nowell Jr., former Mesquite Poteet head coach and grandfather of Teddy Nowell III, current ace pitcher and 1st baseman for the Poteet Pirates.

Big Daddy loved the game of baseball, watching, listening and talking the game! As most of us know, God works in mysterious ways and even though his health had been deterorating (sp?) for several months, he had the opportunitiy to watch his grandson lead the Poteet Pirates to the State Championship game and verbally commit to the OU Sooners.

It was a privaledge knowing and hanging out with Big Daddy. This past summer I had the honor of visiting with him one on one about hitting. Though his body was failing him, his mind was still sharp as a razor...and he knew the game of baseball...all aspects.

When you say your prayers tonight, say one for Big Daddy and his family.

We'll miss Big Daddy -- a true character and a special person. His love for baseball and the kids that played it was second to none. I can almost hear a conversation between BD and the Lord regarding hitting....and can picture the Lord walking away with a smile on his face, eager to implement his suggestions. Cool

Ted Jr -- we'll pray for your family's comfort during this time of loss.
