The Realities of the College game...from all perspectives

JH - I'm going to disagree with your word majority.  Hopefully, you were just being humble.   I wouldn't change a word in your first post. It is still epic.  

Every high school player who wants to play at the next level should read your initial post.  There is so much wisdom there from someone who is right in the middle of the college baseball experience.  That is priceless to any one considering college baseball.   JMO.

When JH first posted this, my son was just starting his freshman season as a college baseball player. Now 3+ years later and having completed his 4 years playing college baseball I couldn't agree more with the original post. You truly NEED to love the game. It has been four years of continuous baseball for my son,  except for maybe 3 weeks at the end of the summer and one summer season that didn't happen because of injury.

I have seen some of his original recruiting class give up and others who fought there way into the lineup finally, in their senior season. Make sure that you want to do this.. Between school and baseball it will become all consuming.

JH, great post. It all still applies. Just got through talking to a kid going into his Senior year of High School. I told him to get on this site quick and read and then re-read your post. Spot on. I see my sons journey, he is going into his Senior year of College ball, in your post. Right down to the F bomb incident! Great insight.

Gee, the author ought to be a pro scout..oh wait, he IS a pro scout.  Truly well done by a pretty darned classy guy.

My son just finished his first year of D3 baseball. Baseball as a college freshman is at least as big of a change as moving from the small diamond to the big diamond. It is just different, and as JH says, you gotta love it.

As a parent of a high school senior, I think I underestimated the fact that college baseball is the beginning of a new journey for my son.

Josh, thanks for bumping this, and thanks for hanging around to help those who are working their way through it all. It has been a real pleasure to observe you from a distance as you tackled various challenges. Keep writing!
