These words by Paul Harvey could be related to the encouragement provided by a pro scout, college coach and a parent to a young aspiring baseball player.
Thanks Bob. I always liked to listen to Paul Harvey. Great story teller. But this video needs more "rest of the story". Having lived in Memphis for many years I can tell you the government housing project (Lauderdale Courts) where Elvis Presley lived during those years WAS indeed the wrong side of the tracks. Low income government housing projects was (and still is) dangerous turf. Discretion should always be used in these situations. If I saw a teenager with a 32" Louisville Slugger in a housing project you can bet I wouldn't approach him and ask about his batting average. Fungo
Thanks for posting the link Bob. Paul Harvey was amazingly talented and his well respected legacy was earned and is secure. This clip really shows the power of caring and being compassionate. We all have our opportunities...let's not waste them.
And Fungo, I'm with you and your wisdom. Forget the kid's batting average and wish for a swing and a miss!
