Without velocity, he would never have gotten started - easy disqualifier. Easy to say it's not as important when most of your career you had velocity and then when don't have it any longer, finesse, thought, location and command takes over

My childhood idol. My dad took me to as many home weekend games when he pitched as he could. Met him once at a signing, was lucky to attend his 300th victory at Yankee Stadium. In my biased opinion, he's the greatest pitcher of all time. Cool stat -- only two pitchers have over 300 wins, 3000 strikeouts, and a lifetime ERA under 3.00 - Seaver and Walter Johnson.
