We need to move on.

Runners on 1st & 2nd, 1 out. Pop up in the INF. 3B man loses the popped up ball in the sun and the ball drops in front of the pitcher. Runners take off & pitcher throws to 3rd base to apparently force the runner at 3B. Ump calls 3 outs. ???

Infield fly, batter out. Later on we find out that although no tag was made on the runner coming in to 3rd base, the runner thought he was forced out and left the field of play - 3rd OUT.

No body in the stands could figure it out because we were thinking the runner wasn't tagged out.

High pop fly down the left field line. Looks like it might stay in play or it might drop into the first row of seats. Left fielder makes his way over to the fence and reaches up for the ball.

A fan, just like EVERY OTHER FAN IN THE WORLD WOULD HAVE DONE, reaches out in his attempt to catch the ball.

And the Cubs have yet another goat to blame for their inability to win.

Bases loaded, one out.

Ground ball to short.

Throw goes up the line drawing the first basemen into the runner (hitter). They both collide with the first baseman going down in a heap while the runner stumbles to first. Ball rolls about 10' away.

Umpire never calls time. Everyone on the field just stood and stared toward first base.

All three runners scored and batter hopped on one foot all the way to second base.

Not sure when or if the umpire should have called time. Poor first baseman broke a bone in his arm, a lot like Derek Lee a couple of years ago.

Pretty sure only when the ball is dead. That means someone from the defense needs to get the ball in order to prevent the runners from advancing. Sounds mean and all, but it's that way in all sports. An official in any sport is not going to "blow up" a play (due to injury) in the middle; they'll wait until it has all but stopped or has stopped.
