One last Twins trivia question. A Twin was arguably the "worst" league MVP selection EVER. On July 31, this guy was batting .232 with a .278 on base percentage as a leadoff batter. Yet by the end of the season he won the MVP. Who was this fairly inept hitter?

Zoilo Versalles ... In a down year for hitters he led the league in runs, doubles and triples.

Two years later this guy hit .200 with a .249 OBP and three years later .196 with a .244 OBP and they still batted him leadoff or second much of the time!

Tony Oliva should have been MVP. He finished second. He led the league in hitting. His rbi and run total was over 200.

Tony O is the man. I never got to see him play in person but my dad was a big fan and actually named my younger brother after him. He is still very active in the Twins organization and does the Spanish language broadcast for them. I saw him at a game early this year at Target Field and he and Kent Hrbek were just walking around like regular fans, having a beer, tellin stories, and bs-ing with regular joes like me. Just one of the many reasons that I love the Twins organization.
