Has anyone ever heard of this? My son got what looks to be a solicitation of sorts from them. The nuts and bolts of it look like this in an email communication.

There was an email address and a link to thescoutingnews.com. Seems legitimate but I've just never heard of them.

The thing is that it looked to be something regarding the catcher position but he doesn't play that position in HS. Only on his travel ball team.

If anyone knows anything about this platform please let me know.A lot of this kind of thing gets deleted but this one he found interesting for whatever reason.

Thanks.

If you're not practicing there is always someone else who is and when you meet he or she will beat you.

You don't want any part of The Scouting News. It is not a legitimate resource for scouting, just an attempt to separate you and your money.

They will feature anybody, regardless of talent in order to sell expensive memberships to moms and dads. It's a vanity play...

Disagree? Google The Scouting News and scam....lots of material there from victims...

My son has gotten this email several (perhaps as much as a dozen) times.  There is one sitting in my inbox right now, even. Honestly, while initially intriguing, I dismissed it from any consideration once I figured out is was "pay-for-news."  If it was a legitimate scouting site truly interested in profiling my son (rather than separating me from my money), they wouldn't require payment, and since anybody who pays can seemingly get profiled, I'm sure no coach gives the site any credibility for any recruiting purpose.  JMO.

i would say if you are getting these, it means your son has done enough to get on somebody's mailing list (probably a good thing), but that doesn't mean that that every offer that comes as a result is worth pursuing.  Everything is subject to the smell test, and (at least for me), this one doesn't pass.  If I am wrong about this service, I am sure somebody here will have had experience with it, and will set me straight.  I doubt it, though - I think my instincts are right on this one.

Thanks for the feedback, people. I appreciate it. Seems like he's getting around ten different communications every day for the last couple of years from different places through email. Some interesting, some not. I just didn't know about that particular platform, Is why I asked.

Didn't really start happening until he made one of those berecruited profiles. Now he gets a ton of solicitations and not very much relevant to actual coaches interest and now it looks like the site has turned into a full blown marketing campaign for their third party partners. I'm thinking that's probably the origin.

Thanks again.

My son rec'd this as well. Ignored it.

My son also rec'd a letter and email from a Doctor asking for his signature as a collector of future pro stars. I responded and told him to cease contact or I would contact the police in his town for harrassment.

Please make sure to monitor your sons/daughters email used for scouting purposes.

We, parents, post more about our players than we would ourselves. A scout level PG subscription provides all but a SSN and Signature.

My 2 pennies.
