I lost my Mom six years ago when I was 56.  Many of you have lost one or both parents so we all can all relate one way or another.  Hard to imagine losing your Mom while you are still in high school and I am sure there are some of you who can relate to that.  A senior on our varsity baseball team, him and his brother lost their Mom on December 1st, 2022.  The best I can tell, she was their only means of support.  I'd like to do two things with this thread.  Please tell us a story about one or both of your parents.  Secondly, someone from our local community started a gofundme for these two boys college education.  They are shown in their football uniforms with their Mom and the one on the left is on the baseball team.

My heart aches for them. Thank you for sharing both the story and a way to help. Those boys will be in my prayers. I lost my Dad two and half years ago. He was so ridiculously proud of his kids and grandkids. I can just imagine his smile as he sees them growing into wonderful, accomplished young adults. He always supported our crazy life as an academics and sports family. My son has his eyes…

I lost my mom when I was 10, and my dad when I was 39.  Both ultimately due to lung cancer, although my dad had stopped smoking for over 20 years.

It was a different time, but Santa decorated our Christmas tree.  My mother came from a German/Austrian background and Santa had decorated her tree.  Can you just imagine coming downstairs as a child and what had been a naked tree the night before on Christmas Eve was now decorated, sparkling with tinsel, and colored lights?!?  Oh the magic!

Over the years my dad would help Santa with the lights.  Then the tinsel.  Then he suggested that we help with the ornaments.

I can only imagine how late they had to stay up to do all that AND get gifts wrapped.  This was looong before pre-lit trees!
