Interesting conversation on Intentional Talk: Reacting to the accusation that Lester had a substance in his glove last night, and the Cardinals reaction ("it's a non-issue"), both Tom Verducci and Kevin Millar were emphatic that it's common practice.

 

Virtually all pitchers figure out a way to "get a better grip on the ball," they said ... so get over it. My favorite was Millar's statement "They're all clean; just not squeaky clean!"

Millar is 100% spot on.

I thought it was ridiculous for an A ball pitcher to call out a MLB ace. Apparently the Cardinals did too. They called the kid and the tweet was deleted.

I understand that they were pretty embarrassed and I am sure that milb pitcher won't be tweeting much for now.

 

The issue is that this isn't something that is new, just no one talks much about it.
