Thoughts on HS team managers?

Always respect the managers. They are taking time to help you. I was a manager for the high school team when I was in 7th and 8th grade and it was a great experience.

I treat the manager(s) of the varsity team just like everyone else. They are there for the love of the game, and I respect them for that. I won't give them worse treatment than everyone else, but I won't nurture them and give them better. Their job is tougher than the player's in some instances, and if one is too big-headed to see that then IMO, that person should re-evaluate their role on the team.

Thats some great answers. THey have a lot of work to do, and they are basically an assitant coach in some instances.

IF a player makes an error, they can make it up with a great play the next inning or a hit. If a manager messes up, they really have no chance to redeem themselves

by manager do you mean head coach?

i mean team manager.. like the kids on the team but dont play. they take all teh equipment everywhere, that type

Respect, they don't have to be there, and you probably take for granted what they do.

oh ok.Our managers are always the injured ball players,or the ineligable ball players.

Not only do they not have to be there, but if they are injured, it's KILLING them to be there and not being able to play.

It's tough enough to be hurt at any time, but especially during the season of the favorite sport.

ooo at my school(im the topic creator) our managers are the kids who love the sport but arent athletic enough to play. or kids who need PE credit, but our baseball coach only allows the players who got cut to be the managers

So what happens to a kid who gets hurt? At my school, the coach won't let them be on the team. I don't know why. So he lets them be a manager.

usually the kids on my team dont get hurt for more than a few weeks.. if its serious injury they quit, since academics is top priority in my school...im not bragging, just pointing out. we are like top 20 private school in the country

At our school the managers are annoying 10-12 year olds who don't do much besides hit lazy ground balls for fielding practice and that's about all, they can't even throw BP or do anything productive because of insurance reasons (but they can participate in high contact fly ball drills, conditioning workouts, etc). That said, I'm not sure if they are there for a purpose or if you guys would call them managers.

we don't even have managers. usually we make the freshman and other first year players take care of water and equipment

The managers on my team are just as passionate about the game as the players are. They do more work, dont get to play or practice, and want to play as bad as the members of the team. I respect them alot for sticking with it even after being cut from the team.

lol our manager only keeps score, and she is a high school senior, pretty good looking as well, causes a lot of distractions, sometimes i wish she werent there but she is a good score keeper so its all good.
