HI JA, don't just forget about it.

Welcome to the HSBBW. This is one of the best places to get information and advice. But talking about pitching mechanics is difficult because you have to describe too much. Then someone has to read it and interperet what you say the way you mean it. Way too many chances for misunderstanding. Just be patient and you will get the answers you seek.

It has been my experience that leading with your throwing elbow is not a good thing. You want your chest out front, with respect to your upper body as your arm starts to do its thing in delivery of the baseball, with all your momentum moving toward the target. Your elbow, just by the nature of pitching, may seem to you like it is out in front, but it is not and should not be out in front. This is after you have opened up and are in the final stages of the pitch. You have a lot going on befoer you get to this satge.

I believe if a pitcher does get his elbow out in front (so to speak) that you would have elbow problems. That puts way too much stress on the elbow (which is already stressed anyway when you are pitching).

If you are serious about improving your pitching find a local pitching coach that has a good reputation. Do your research and homework on this one.
