I don't know your background, but assuming it's not as a former college or pro pitcher, I would definitely recommend not to self-diagnose. There is so much info out there..a little bit of knowledge is dangerous.

My son is also a LHP, just turned 16 yesterday. He's had years of training with former pros, college instructors, etc. His strike to walk ratio has improved dramatically through mechanics and balance. I certainly couldn't have taught him.

Remember, your son is a LEFTY! Protect him like you would a gold watch. Without proper mechanics and balance, his velocity will be limited. Find a qualified instructor asap.
