It may not be right. But it sure sounds about right.

Here is a scary thought for all the other PGA members.

Maybe just maybe, Tiger focus and ability to focus the past year or two ( his success in the majors) has been hampered by a guilty conscience...now that this all out in the open and he takes some time to get past the guilt/shame and tries to use golf to block out everything....could he get even better?

Or....
Maybe when Tiger comes back he won't be as focused as he had been in the past. He'll be dealing with hecklers in the crowd. He'll have to deal with the same things the other golfers always have. I don't see him coming back as sharp as he has been in the past.
Agreed...it's new territory. Three weeks ago, I would have been on the side of not betting against the guy either. But, he's shown a much more human side to him that I can't see how it would not affect him on the golf course. Time will tell. But I wouldn't underestimate the impact on other golfers who will no longer think the guy walks on water.

The WNBA and Socker have been forced on us. And I just ignore it.

Now some will say socker does this and socker does that. Great if you enjoy it continue to enjoy it. I personally would rather spend my day getting stung by bumble bee's than watch it.

Coach I couldn't agree more at all. Our school was playing in the s****r state championship game a couple of weeks ago in Cary and they paid me to drive the fan bus (if it wasn't for me getting paid not a chance I go). Honestly it was my first s o c c e r game and I have two observations about it.

1. It does take some tremendous skill to do the footwork that is involved in controlling the ball. I got some respect because you don't get that good without hard work.

2. I was so bored watching that game I couldn't see straight. It was the state championship game and I got students and some of my baseball players out there. I truly hope they win because it's good for them but it was the most boring game I've seen in my life.

As for the question at hand I'm going to say that Ali is the man. He made his name and not some entourage that was designed to suck every dollar out of his name. Ali was all about doing what he wanted, saying what he wanted and it made an impact. Tiger has people who orchestrate what is said and done.

Both have names recognized around the world but Ali is known for what he did - Tiger is better known for a checkmark beside his name.

I bet Phil Mickelson is doing a happy dance now after Tiger said he's taking time off.
Put this in perspective....

When last measured two years ago, Woods' approval rating was 83%. Today it's at 36% as a result of recent discoveries about the real Tiger Woods. A shocking slide but for obvious reasons. Less than a year ago, Obama's approval rating was 83% and today it stands at 46%. An equally stunning drop. The lowest approval rating ever by a President at this stage of his presidency...a 37 percentage point drop in approval rating.

First polls can be swayed by how the polling organization asks the questions.

Woods approval ratings are an emotional reaction to a week of news. When the smoke clears and he's winning again I believe most people won't care what happened. However, his approval rating won't be what it once was. I don't care about the Woods story from a personal standpoint. It's newsworthy from the standpoint of a famous person screwing up his life and his business (Tiger Woods Inc.).

Obama's approval ratings are a reaction to a year of lack of accomplishment. He has one month to accomplish something or his January State of the Union address will be nothing but wind and big momentum for Republicans. Watch for healthcare to pass before the address. Then watch for your insurance premiums to increase or the level of service offered to decline over the next few years.

Please allow me to say this:

I coached youth sokker for many years in the AYSO system--- the town I lived in was quite diverse in terms of ethnic backgrounds--my son played sokker and was a all section HS goalie and played with kids on his team whose dads played s****r every weekend in Latino leagues--the top player on his HS team was the son of a Chilean World Cup player--- another thing unlike many LL parents the sokker parents did not just drop their kids off and then come back later to pick them up---they were there with the entire family to cheer and root the TEAM on

Folks let me tell you---the game is not easy--it takes a lot of skill--there are also varied styles which vary from this part of the world to the other--and you can laugh all you want but the World Cup winner in 2010 will get 32 million dollars as a prize and every other team in the event will get at least 9 million dollars

Perhaps some of you should take your blinders off!!!

Can you imagine what Arnie would have done with the media of today...would make Tiger look like an amateur. Imagine Nicklaus with today's technology instead of wooden heads, blade irons with V grooves and balata golfballs (anybody here that played golf in the early/mid 1960's might remember) plus...and this is the real key, competition that wasn't happy with just a paycheck. Few on this board are old enough to remember just how good Nicklaus really was. 18 Majors is cool but the 19 2nd place finishes are equally cool.

Don't see a Palmer, Player, Watson, Miller, Casper, Trevino, Norman or even a Weiskopf out on the PGA Tour these days. Can't imagine any of those guys backing down from Tiger like we see today. OK, Mickelson and Weiskopf can cancel each other out with their head case issues. 1969 Frank Beard won the PGA Money Title with just over $100,000 in winnings (may have been 1968 or 1970)...players today can pocket well over $1,000,000 and never win a tournament. Don't see any golfer out there that NEEDS to win with the exception of Tiger; everybody else is too comfortable.

Even Tiger gets comfortable...when was the last Major tournament Tiger won coming from behind in the final round? The comeback was Tiger's trademark as an amateur....he has yet to do it once in a Major. For the sake of his marriage and the PGA Tour, I hope he make a comeback as his presence is sorely needed.

Tiger needs to look in a mirror and ask himself if his Father would be happy with him. Something tells me Tiger already knows the answer. Hope he works everything out at home and gets help with his "problem" and comes back full throttle.
When told that Tiger Woods had cheated on his wife with at least 10 different women, former NBA star Wilt Chamberlain wanted to know .... "What night did that happen?"

NIKE just announced they are producing a new "Elin Signature" line of golf clubs guaranteed to beat Tiger.

Elin Nordegren asked her marriage counselor why, next time, she should go after Tiger with a 9-iron instead of the 3-iron she used the morning after thanksgiving? The counselor said “Because, now you’re closer to the green.”

Trhit,

I would rather watch paint dry then a S****r match but agree with your statement above. While living in Europe for seven years, was forced to watch s****r (nothing else on the "Tele" but horse racing) and "learned" to appreciate the athleticism required to play well. Saw many World class matches at Wembley (worried about my life on some of those jaunts).

Do any of you guys remember the "Super Stars" program on NBC many moons ago? You know, the program featuring pro athletes from all Sports competing in a multitude of athletic endeavors. Well Kyle Rote Jr. (the son of College Football great .. Kyle Rote) won that thing two or three years running. He was playing pro s****r in Canada or Europe at the time. Beat all the NFL and other pro sport types very handily. S****r was even less visible in the U.S. in those days.

Suh, the dominant defensive lineman from Nebraska, credits his s0ccer playing as a youth through 9th grade for the footwork he say gives him a big advantage over offensive linemen.
Oh I appreciate the amount of skill and work that goes into sokker and I have no doubt that our kids at the school I teach at have a tremendous work ethic. I just find the game absolutely boring and would rather watch paint dry.

The part I hate about it is how people try to force sokker on me as to why it's such a great sport and I could care less. In fact sokker is killing our football program because the better athletes play it rather than football. The main factor in that is our community will not offer youth league, rec, pop warner or anything like that in football. All they have is sokker. When football coaches in the past have tried to start youth league football but face all kinds of resistance from the sokker parents. When we get a kid as a freshman in football they have the experience level of a 5th grader and we have to overcome that in two years so they can help on varsity.

That's my issue with sokker - not the game or skills or players - I support our kids in sokker but I would rather watch pain dry than watch it. Like RJM said about baseball and some kids not liking it but there are other kids who say the same thing about sokker. Each kid is different.

S0ccer doesn't affect football at our high school. The school is large enough. Both sports have good youth programs. Football is big in PA. S0ccer is big in our part of PA. After playing travel s0ccer, then middle school football, my son returned to s0ccer in high school for two reasons. 1) He didn't like the banging on Fridays then playing baseball dinged up on the weekend in the fall. 2) He said it would kill him to get injured and missed baseball.
