Jurickson Profar, the youngest player in the major leagues, homered in his first career at-bat for the Texas Rangers.

The 19-year-old hit a 2-1 pitch from Cleveland Indians starter Zach McAllister an estimated 388 feet over the right-field wall in the third inning on Sunday.

As a long-time Indians fan, I feel it is my obligation to inform you all that this is not a significant accomplishment.
Over the last six weeks, we clearly do not qualify as major league opposition, particularly our pitching staff. OK, OK, one could argue that it has been more like sixty years.

Tx-Husker said.....There is talk in Dallas that the Rangers think so much of him that they will trade Elvis in the offseason and turn SS over to him. The thought is Elvis has had such a good year that his trade value will peak with him being under contract for two more years.....before Boras gets a crazy contract for him.

That is what good ownership and management does. Maximize value. Because if the team doesn't maximize value, Scott Boras will. Hats off to the Rangers if that is their plan.

Actually, so many players have hit an HR in their first ML at bat that it could be considered fairly common. Not many Hall of Famers have done it though; one I know of right off the top of my head is Earl Averill of Cleveland in 1929. Hoyt Wilhelm the old knuckleballing reliever hit one in his first ML AB and never hit another in over twenty years.

One player homered in his first MLB at bat and never homered again.
