It's been quiet in here for awhile, so I'm guessing you have all been busy with holiday preparations. How are all you mom's doing in the Christmas prep department? Cookies baked? Presents wrapped? House clean? FYI...I'd have to answer NO to all of the above. New puppy in the house has kept me QUITE distracted...somehow making sure the darn little thing knows the bathroom is OUTSIDE has put all the Christmas prep on the back burner for me...but I intend on getting it ALL done before Christmas Eve Big Grin! So....how are you gals all doing and are you ready for the holidays?

Cookies purchased, gifts via internet shopping are here, and wrapped, and the decorations up....the new house is almost a home....still putting finishing touches on it. Got the idea to make some drapes and I've been swimming in yards of silk taffeta....and then one thing leads to another....got to have matching pillows! I'm not dealing with a new puppy, but the cat likes to try and help me sew.....

Through all this....counting the days until my son is home for winter break....one week from yesterday!

Merry Christmas, Happy Hoidays, and Happy New Year to all the wonderful ladies of hsbaseballweb, enjoy the time with family.....the best part of the Holidays.

(luvbb.....swap you a cat for the puppy?)
I'm actually in good shape to celebrate the holidays. Cleaned house well for daughter's birthday party so that's done. Have most of my shopping done except for some little things. I do have a little bit of baking to do, but I never do it until closer to Christmas. Son got home yesterday. My household is good to go! Wink

Arizona - I wish I could see your face when you see B. after being apart all those months. It will truly be a special Christmas for you!
Arizonared,

Sorry...gonna have to decline your offer of a "pet swap"...I'm definetly NOT a cat person. My son and daughter get home today for the holidays and they haven't met their new littlest family member yet...so it should be a pretty fun night when they both roll in.

Also did ALOT of shopping this year via the internet. So much more convenient and less of a hassle. But I'm sure the UPS man HATES me! Big Grin
Hello ladies....I do love you all, but you make my Christmas preparations seem quite poor, and I feel my self-esteem slowly sinking (just kidding).....I mean, what is my boy going to do when he comes home and the place looks exactly like it did at Thanksgiving?.......I know my shopping will not get done (or started) until the 23rd and 24th.......but I must say that your Christmas spirit does help me and on the road today I will seek out some holiday music on the XM radio!!!
Grateful....you and my husband would get along very well......maybe it's a guy thing? He prefers to wait unitl Christmas Eve to shop too....then can't understand why he couldn't find everything he wanted.......Enjoy the music!

Luvbb....we have a dog too....other than the puppy stage....think dogs are a lot easier to get along with then cats....we rescued the cat, or, I should say he found us....he seemed very grateful that first day we fed and watered him...but it didn't last long....he know seems to think he's feeding and watering us. Enjoy the new puppy....

Lafmom.....I'm having fits....everybody's sons are getting home sooner than mine....not fair! But....I'm happy for you too.....just trying to patiently wait my turn!
I love shopping for people and to be honest if I waited until Christmas Eve, I'd be in such a panic, I'd have to be medicated!

Grateful - You're not alone in this last minute thing though! I'm sure there are plenty of other dads here in the same boat. Also, you have a good excuse this year!

Luv - Your husband can wait to the last minute because most of your gifts are already under the tree! Big Grin
I have finished most of the shopping. (Have worked out a deal with hubby ... I will shop for his side of the family if he just focuses all his shopping efforts on me Wink ) Started wrapping yesterday and after taking the week-end off for a short trip, will finish on Monday and Tuesday, do my baking on Wednesday and Thursday, clean the house a little on Thursday, deliver "adopted family" gifts and food on Friday just before I pick up my Christmas ham at the specialty store, make my sweet and sour meatballs for Christmas day and get the vegies and dip ready for Christmas day munching.

I plan to sit around on Christmas Eve day eating Christmas cookies and relaxing (yeah right!!!) Big Grin

luvbb ...

Can you figure a way to use a picture of Homer in a PSU cap or sweatshirt as your avatar? That would be adorable.

I was seriously thinking about cutting back this year - but just couldn't do it.

The faces on my grandsons face when they entered grandma's house with her nativity set, christmas village, and 7 christmas trees (we did cut back one tree this year) was priceless.

The part I dread is taking it all down in time to decorate for New Years.
The house is decorated, the tree up and dressed, the lights are lining the roofline. Cards are in the mail, presents wrapped and under the tree, including two I made. Groceries are in, and a list for the last-minute 'fresh' things needed is on the fridge. Baking is scheduled for Friday night, my night "off".

The house is clean (even more of a challenge as last Thursday I had a plumbing blockage that resulted in an extremely unfortunate flood originating from the kids' bathroom and extending to the bath, hall, my daughter's bedroom and the utility room. (Talk about an excremental development!)

Since Thanksgiving, my second job has meant at least 65 hour work weeks (first Christmas in retail...and it doesn't encourage Goodwill Toward Anyone Roll Eyes) But, with the year this has been, we WILL have our traditional Christmas down to the last fondant-sculpted Santa cookie!

Sleep is overrated. Razz
