Timing for Corners

My guy played 3rd more than the middle in college. First year at Short, second year at 3rd, 3rd year at 3rd and 4th year at 2nd and short.

He had the ability to play each position, but the driver was his bat. He began receiving 50% offers from out of state Large D1's and 65-75% offers from Florida D2's, after his Junior year and playing in Jupiter.

He ultimately accepted a 100% JUCO offer because he wanted to stay draft eligible. He ended up playing 2 years at seperate JUCO's and 2 years at a Florida D2.

He was drafted as a 2B but is currently working at 3rd.

My observation over a number of years is that most college 3B were SS in HS. Not so much in the mold of an MLB corner guy.

Unless the goal is to have a David Wright like 3B...

I am not sure either, but the club seems backed up at 2B.

At 5'11" and 195 he is not your prototypical MLB corner guy.

Our youngest is a corner guy. Was recruited for his bat. Bottom line is, if you hit you play. Corners are traditionally power hitters. Son was recruited as a soph. Highest level of interest was spring his senior year. He had 4-5 schools interested. Son is now playing both corners at D1.

Have your son keep doing what he his doing. It sounds like he can play any where in the infield which is of great value. But he will need to hit!
