I would like to echo TR's Happy Valentine's Day to all baseball moms and especially to my wife who has put up with my baseball obsession for the last 24 years.. Coaching, umpiring (still can't figure how I got talked into that), and for the last four years my insistence on getting to Dustin's games two hours before game time so I can watch batting practice and infield. Thanks honey.
Behind the scenes, soothing the tattered egos of coaches and players (baseball moms). Behind the scenes taking care of all the real important business while dad and son are on the road or at the practices (baseball moms). Making sure that all the kids have something to eat on the road trips and no one is left without cleats or equipment (baseball moms). Making sure that the concession stand is taken care of and the fundraisers are set up (baseball moms). Offering words of encouragement to their son when dad or coach is upset and acting like a fool (baseball moms). Putting everything into perspective with a few simple words after a tough loss (baseball moms). Letting you now that its ok when you miss an event with the family because you have baseball obligations (baseball moms). Allowing a grown man to stay young and be a kid on the field everyday with your "boys" (baseball moms). Cooking supper and waiting for you to come home from the field and then saying "Its ok I'll heat it up". (baseball moms). I could go on and on but behind and sometimes out in front of every player or coach is a baseball mom. I love mine and I respect all those that give so much of theirselves so we can give back to others. Happy Valentines Day to all the Baseball moms. By the way let me add (Sitting in the stands and cheering for all the boys and ignoring the negative comments about the coach and understanding that it is part of the territory and then helping those same people in the concession stand or on fund raisers without ever uttering a bad word.
