I've watched this video and I've talked to him in person before... his stuff is pretty basic. What do you think about his video?

Also, I was talking to someone who went and listened to Tony talk at a convention, they said that in his 45 minute scheduled time all he said is that in the off-season he would set up in a balanced position and hit the middle of a whiffle ball off of the tee. That's all he said in 5 minutes. I also herd that he is struggling as a coach. I here is team is getting owned.

Any thoughts on the video or anything about Tony Gwynn's teachings?

To say he is getting owned is probably not right. To me his recruiting needs to pick up a bit. Here in San Diego the better players normally play at USD ( very good program) and some of his better players, who sign letter of intents, move on to the draft. SDSU is a state run college and normally the recruiting class is local. State also has to deal with other good quality JUCO programs in the area and the newly formed Cal State San Marcos along with Palomar College and Mesa College etc.

Many kids go the JUCO route here and move on to 4 yr Universities. They also look at it as an opportunity. So, all of these things play a role with SDSU's slow start with Gwynn at the helm. I can honestly say if some of those players would have stayed and not entered the Draft we would be talking about a different program all the way around.

I am a big USD fan but I also see a fair amount of SDSU games and the pitching between the two are like night and day.

On the hitting side my son has gone to several hitting camps at SDSU. My son is also a student of the game and has read every book and has seen, along with me , alot of video. Gwynn really teaches the swing like he is coaching a kid in Little League. He has simple verbal cues and he does like balance alot. I believe Ted Williams had a chat with him and told him he could Pull more balls for Homeruns and he did so. Anyhow Tony is having a mediocore tenure thus far but I believe it starts with recuiting first.

Oh, SDSU has a great baseball field and I have personally gone to the Aflac game the past 3 years.
he's made all the money he needs. he kind of teaches like he is retired,,very easy-going, no urgency, not really in it for the money, etc. I like him for he is one of the best hitters for average of all time.

as for his team SDSU.....don't put a lot of weight on their record. he is doing a great job there right now. he can relate to players very well. What he doesn't do is put a ton of time into the game right now because he is retired from baseball (not from coaching).

But you have to figure in to the equation the hand he was dealt. In 2006 all of his pitchers got hurt. Don't forget 2004 where he won the conference and was coach of the year. Things can't go that way every year. There's been a lot of turmoil with errors and hitting slumps too and some of that is on the coach ... don't get me wrong, he must accept blame too and he does very graciously. This year he is going to get the payoff because all of those 17 highly recruited players of his are now mature upperclassmen and SDSU is going to kick some booty this championship season. It will be fun to watch the pitchers in particular and the hitters are unbelievable (as far as what they did in summer and fall) ... so we are looking at another conference championship year and Tony will most likely get the COTY honors again.

GO SDSU!!!!!
