I was just wondering who you "experts" (along with everyone else) think had the top early signing classes in the Northeast (D-1 schools in New England, NY, and NJ)? Who would be your Top 5?

All the schools in the region have not officially announced their signees--it is kind of tough to analyze without all parties on board

Trust me on this one.....Tom has his finger on the pulse in the Northeast and is heavily involved in helping players get to college. Just as soon as he knows it will be out here.

I thought that there were quite a few MIAs. I assumed that maybe they had no early signees, but I'm willing to wait. Looking forward to the rankings when you have the necessary information. And to anyone else, feel free to chime in with those that have already been announced. Thanks in advance.

What did you think of Maine's R class?
Did the top player stay home?
I know last year he went to Vanderbilt?
Our top players in NH are headed to Winthrop, St. John's and George Washington.

Coach Trimper thought he did well. He just got a transfer outfielder who will be ready for spring. the 2 kids he got from here (NY) are both going to do very well. He has seen them play numerous times the last few years. Very hard workers.
Trimp is a very good recruiter. Look at his previous Manhattan teams. It's tough to convince kids to play there. No facility, no locker rooms and they have to raise a lot of $$$. Yet he was successful, even had kids from Miami coming to the big cuty.

I was just up in Maine for a job two weeks ago and was able to see some baseball friends who kept me posted during the changeover.
Maine baseball is near and dear to my heart so I wish Coach Trimper well. He has a couple of local boys on his team, the Captain from Manchester and a nice bat from Londonderry.
I asked Mainejeff about the in-state players because I have read that he (and others) like to see the best players stay at home.
Understand about Manhatten and the position a coach is in without having all the perks. My father did it at Maine in 1964....Omaha with not a single scholarship, and the MVP came out of Brewer, Maine.

I know that Coach Trimper got Joe Martin from Portland H.S., but I'm not sure what other D-1 talent there is in the class of 2006.

Coach Trimper said today that the Martin kid is a player. One of the top players in the state and he was thrilled that he stayed home. Talk around here is that Lugbauer could be a dafted player although I think he would stay in school JMHO. Jackson can play with anyone.

As far as the recuiting, Steve will do a great job in state as he did when he was in NY. He just got a late start with getting the job, hiring coaches and getting situated. He'll now have time to get out around the area. I know he's still looking for at least 2 more players and I'm sure he'll try the local market before having to travel.

Joey Martin was a great score, great player and more important great kid..my oldest grew up w/Joey's older brother..wish him the best of luck up in orono
i see Matt McGraw is doing well there. Anyone familiar with an Elite team that played out of Portland Maine in 04. A very strong team with lots of talent.
Coach Merc there was a nice team near Troy called the Anaconda Indians. Are you familiar with them? My son pitched his final game against them last year in July.

What age group? The only 18U teams that we played from up that way were the S Troy Dodgers and Suburban Selects. Both are top quality teams. There is also a Diamond Zone team out of Kingston that had a few good players and the DZ owner stays involved with a lot of kids from the area.

Chill that is the team. One of the strongest I have ever seen. Their arms were strong and the whole team was huge.
Coach Merc we have played the Troy Dodgers and they are a decent team. The level was 18U. Anaconda played with the same loop as Kingston but I don't remember playing them.

Looking at last year's Gatorade POY's....and checking to see where they are freshman in college....

players to very impressive academic schools.
3 to Vandy!, Duke, RPI, and UVA to name a few.
I would say that Vandy had the best northeast recruiting class... LOL....taking the Maine, Connecticut and New York POY.
