You are on a mailing list that has been compiled based on other events you have attended in the past. It doesn’t mean anything relative to the recruitment of your son.

I figured they are coming from PG. Kid was on team that won a big event last year. He pitched well.

The thing that is a little interesting about the showcase event is the price. Couple hundred dollars doesn’t seem that bad if the experience is worth it. Looks kind of low key if you ask me, at least from the website. I understand the letters are generic, but I guess I was just wondering if this event might be a good option for the kid to get his feet a little wet when it comes to engaging with college coaches???

If schools of interest will be attending and it doesn’t cost much why not go?

I think you have a 2025?  When you say, "get his feet a little wet when it comes to engaging with college coaches," do you mean:

- learning how to go through the showcase routine with coaches watching?

- getting feedback from college coaches about where he can improve?

- watching college coaches talk to kids in whom they are really interested?

- "getting on coaches' radar" for the future?

- something else?

I tend to be dubious that most of these will happen, except maybe the first, but if we know what you have in mind, maybe some people can say whether it will happen with top50.

I don't know if it was top50 or some other similar company, but I remember getting mailed letters about similar events from coaches who I later realized would have had no interest in my son.  It's effective marketing, it makes you think (as you did) that something he did at PG caught their attention.

Primarily #1

A little of #2 doesn’t hurt

# 3, 4, and 5 I could care less at this time.

if I'm looking at the right website, only POs are getting out for less than $200, and that's just a 3 hour session.

If it were me, I'd prefer a lowkey local college "Prospect Camp". For example, UMBC lists a 4 hour camp in June for $100. As long as the college camp is doing bullpens, hitting, defense, etc, your son will get the feel of showcasing. Those kinds of camps aren't going to publish results anywhere, so no fear of posting bad numbers for all to see. IMO, it can help a kid to get to know the local coaches regardless of whether or not he would ever play there.
