McKinney North 6th and no McKinney........hmmmm, interesting.........
They are not really DFW, but they will be playing in district with some of these teams.....Wichita Falls Rider was a Regional Finalist in 4A last year and had Fort Worth Arlington Heights down in both games.

Arlington Heights graduated quite a few players and some of Rider's best were sophomores. I think people in 5-4A are pickig them to be right there with Ryan. Ryan has two starting pitchers that are probaly not going to get beat many times.
Oh my goodness.... sorry fans... oops, I mean "dads".... had to step in on this thread because it is such a joke....

Jjkul- r u serious? u want top 50 teams?? why??
basically in every division/classification in Texas there are going to be 2-5 teams that are head and shoulders above all others... then another 8-10 that are solid teams with one or two big-time (high school) players... then everyone out of top 15 really don't have a real chance of winning anything as far as State Championship goes.... yeah they will have a nice record and do well in their small pond, <cough> i mean district... the parents will think they are "Goin to State" down in Austin and like Coppell last year, they will be ready for summer ball by week two or three of playoffs....

Basestealer- How many of those teams u just ranked have you seen play? Change that. How many have you seen play over last 3 years at all? Prob not many... and I am sure you can't even name the top 2-3 players on those teams - or even just the top guy.. so how are you ranking them?? Comical.

Longhorn- When you say WF Rider had Heights down in two games... could you of said "Heights beat Rider in both games." and meant the same thing? Guess it all depends on where you live... because if you talk to Heights players, Rider is an after thought... if you talk to Rider PARENTS, they will say we had them beat, but lost it late... it is what it is...

Go Pirates- How long have you actually been keeping tabs on high school baseball in Texas? I am going to guess not very long with your statement about wire to wire State Championship.... just like when the parents were on here last year talking about how great Coppell's INDIVIDUAL players were and where they were all going to college, etc... Grapevine stepped up and said not-so-fast-my-friend.
It takes more than great individual players to go deep in playoffs in Texas... everyone has to be on the same page...

I don't have any kids, but have been watching high school baseball close for over 20 years... there is a reason Heights is always making runs in the playoffs... good coaching... and kids that believe in the big picture... of course they are going to get out of that district, but they make deep runs every year... they do 20 little things 1% better than opponents...

The only reason some of these teams (in metro area) go a couple rounds deep is because they are plaing other area teams in first couple of rounds... but the parents all think: Here we come Austin!!... of course a lot of these same parents have kids who have already won over 5 world series in their youth days.. and have been told how great they are by parents.. well until July of junior summer when zero college coaches talk to them... and they thought they were gonna be a longhorn ever since they were on that awesome 8u select team that won the world series where there were 16 teams yet 12 were from Texas...

on that note, congrats to the three graduates from Heights last year who are playing at UT... any other schools in Texas have three players on the roster of the #1 team in the nation?

And no, I didn't go to Heights... but, it is what it is...

There is a reason that teams like, Heights, Calallen, Brenham, and Midway are tough every year...

Agree Beast. Not even sure Poteet should be on the list at all. In my opinion HP is too high as well and that's a long drive to Waco Midway to still be in the metroplex. Corsicana will be pretty good and should give Midlothian a run for their money in 16-4A. McKinney should be on there for sure.
GoPirate I'm asumming you are a poteet pirate fan and I'm not sure why you have no confidence in them, you have an exellent team with alot of very good players! And yes Poteet will be better this year. I know that's hard for most to beleive but it's true, just set back and watch and you will see what I mean your junior class is very strong! I have no allegence to Poteet I'm just familiar with several of the players. Back on Waco Midway they are on my list because they play in 16 4A and do play in our area. They have alot of talent also including one of the best junior pitchers in the state in Matthew Kent who has already committed to A&M.
Diablo "Loco" -

Who do you think is reading this? Jack Buck?

Of course most of these posts are parents.

Did I say Heights should not have won?

Observations

#1: Rider had a chance against Heights in 2009 at some point in the games if they actually lead in the score.

#2: Obviously, if they graduated 3 players who are now playing at U Tx as you said, "any other schools in Texas have three (freshman) players on the roster of the #1 team in the nation?"..............

.....could I assume "they might be a little weaker"? Did I say the coach was bad?

I have seen Rider, Ryan and Heights on several occasions in the last 10 years, I am going to throw the other 10 out and assume the programs have changed some since 2000?

In 2010, I will take Ryan, then Rider then Heights in that order. Bet you an enchilada dinner.

I am sure you did not go to Heights, but I bet your checkbook is part of that new "complex" going up. Keep playing Poly Tech and batting opposite handed in the 3rd inning "to give them a break".
rsc/longhorn... no ties to Heights, I went to scchool in west Texas... just calling a spade a spade...

longhorn... can heights help who is in district? funny thing is, is that the coach over there stands up at pre-season meeting an asks that dunbar, poly, and o.d. wyatt to drop baseball from their athletics.. because it doesn't help his team any....
of course on the flip side, they have to play all those guys in basketball too.. oh, but heights started out 19-0 this year in that sport...

longhorn, u wld think since heights has to play all those schools that they drum 20-0 every year (in FWISD) that that wld hamper them against teams like Rider in the playoffs.... but it doesn't <cough> didn't Wink

and i appreciate the enchilada bet though i am not hispanic ... i would rather bet some Cooper's BBQ...

but keep in mind i did say: of course they are going to get out of that district, but they make deep runs every year... so i get the poly comment... dunbar, wyatt, trimble tech... same difference...

JMHO....
