Anyone with experience on these showcases? My 2018 is considering one nearby that seems to have several schools that have expressed interest in him attending, but I'm wondering if he's better off actually visiting the campuses to see if he's interested in them. Thoughts? It would be our last baseball event of the season if we do it.

If you can afford it absolutely, why not. The more exposure the better. I'd also check the schools he's interested to see if they offer camps of their own.
Experiences will vary of course, but the one my son played in was well attended by local schools he had interest in. He was able to interact with the coaches, and had some good conversations.
There might have been 80 players and at least 12 coaches at his event, so the ratio was acceptable.
If the event fits your budget, and schools he is interested in are attending I would say it's a good idea.
Iowa Mom: Son went to two events- One summer before his junior year and one summer prior to senior year. Well run--coaches approachable for players--write up at the end from a coach who is following player. Color of jersey helps you/player know what Grad classes players are, number on back lets you know primary position. Got much bang for buck in two events--cost was much lower than HF and each event there were at least 5 schools son had targeted. Top96 was also willing to bend on refund policy--son injured in OF collision night before event. We were allowed to exchange for another event- different city. In the end, son got two offers a few weeks after showcase (went to see him play in games after). There video for multiple skills (MI/OF) were actually less $$ than other venues. With a 2018, your goal is to generate some interest so that they will go see your son either upcoming spring or summer. If there are a cluster of schools you are vetting, I;d go.
