The top level ones will go after some verbal commits around the end of the JR yr...but usually the big run is late SR yr all the way up until late summer after they have graduated.  They will usually hold out several spots for D1 transfers until after fall season is over.  AS any other school, the go heavy to the PO's then middle and out

My son received his first offer from a JUCO the summer after 10th grade.  The coach knew he was not ready to commit, so it was more of a "we would love to have you.  This is our offer when you are ready."

I expect my son to start really looking into JUCOs this spring (his junior year.)  In part, we have decided that a JUCO may be the best path for him even though some 4 year D1s are showing interest.  Academically, a four year school does not seem like the best fit.  But I would think many players will push longer for the 4 year before looking at JUCOs.

Disagree... Top Juco's are going to get some D1 caliber talent that do not have the grades that will be better talent than D2 or NAIA....  D3 they are mostly the academic kids.  And the top Juco' will get draftable talent that does not want to get stuck in a three yer commitment.

2013's JuCo team had one drafted in the 15th round, 3 D1's  3 D 2's and 2 NAIA guys

Spot on bacdorslider,  my son committed as a PO right before is senior year and had offers from strong D2's and looks from Big12 and could committed a few months later into his Senior year but it was not the path he desired.

His current JC has a 5th & 19th round pick and several kids that committed D1 early in HS and then changed there minds and/or I would guess were told they didn't develop as projected or better kids were found later.
