He's got a whole lot of earning to do before he even begins to earn any of our respect. A whole lot!

That's what was so reassuring about BJ Upton's actions...he knows that if he had pulled the same selfish stunt, then the game he loves and is respected for playing so well, would become a quick memory.

If BJ was trying to help Delmon, by chastising him right then and there, it would be hard to fault him.

If BJ cares so deeply for the game and felt compelled to take action quickly to defend the game, then that is also good.

If BJ did what he did for both reasons, then he is to be commended. I have much respect for BJ because of his very prompt and proper actions.

BJ, in my book, is a very good leader...the Rays are fortunate to have him in their organization.

Why does he deserve a break?

Because he is Highly Rated Prospect ?

The coddling has to stop --it has already gone too far--the more we give these spoiled athletes the more they expect--he should be done for the year with no pay and a stiff fine!!!!

The bat ending where it did was not a mistake and the statement of apology is ludicrous in my book--

TRhit

What's a year's worth of no AAA pay for Delmon 5.8 million Young?

Why is his apology ludicrous? Would it be better that he not apologize?
tbirds,

What he should have done is goten up in front of the cameras and spoken from the heart, not a prepared transcript. Its incredible to me that these agents and the people that surround these kids dont get it. Didn't any of these people watch the T. Owens "appologies" ?

Please try to keep in mind another factor in all this that must be considered is to also provide a deterrent for this kind of behavior in the future. Just maybe the next hothead might think first before letting his bat fly at someone.
