Who are some of the top summer programs around the country and if you could, please provide a link to each programs web site?

Not as interested in who won this title or that from the different sanctioning bodies. I'm more interested in the programs out there that really take an interest in the players, help develop what ever talent a kid may have & try their best to help promote dedicated players to the next level.....not just worried about the size of Dad's checking account.

Thanks,

I have heard of a lot of really good programs, and my apologies to those I leave out of this list. I am only listing the programs we have played over the past 10 years (no particular order):

1. Bayside Yankees (NY)
2. Brooklyn Youth Service (NY)
3. South Troy Dodgers (NY)
4. VBC Barnstormers (VA)
5. East Cobb Yankees (GA)
6. Dulins Dodgers (TN)
7. Jackson 96er's (MS)
8. Bill Hood Broncos (LA)
9. Grand Slam Diamonds (DE)
10. Maryland Orioles (MD)

I have been out of the game for 3 years, so my information is a little dated. I'll add a plug for my program, the Columbia Reds (MD). We have been around since 1987, and other than me, the same core coaching staff since that time. The head coach the last 3 years was my top assistant when I was the head coach. We have had the priviledge of having lots of great players play for us over the years, and we have worked hard to get them to play in college.

I am most familiar with the 17-18 versions of these programs, but they seem to be pretty strong top to bottom.
That's a great list. Not sure which age group you're looking at. Make sure to check out TRHit's College Select showcases
http://www.collegeselect.org/

Sorry Sportsfan, I don't know any in your neck of the woods, but maybe others can recommend something. Check PG website for tourney results and you'll see a lot of these teams, and there are of course many more.
These orgs continually field some of the very best teams in the nation. By no means is this an exhaustive list, but it's a start.

ABD Bulldogs SoCal

Midland Redskins Cinn. OH

DBAT Dallas

East Cobb Baseball Marietta Ga

Thanks for the lists of teams everyone.

The reason I am asking the list and web sites is that we have put together a program here in Indiana called the Indiana Cardinals. We have 15’s & 16’s this year and hope to add in additional age groups each year to follow. We've assembled a great group of coaches, administrators and sponsors with baseball experience at all levels of either coaching or playing. We really want to try to build something positive for the kids in this area/state and want to do anything we can to try to help them get to where ever it is they want to go.

I wanted the list of top teams so that I could check out their web sites and possibly even contact some of them and simply ask questions about some of the things they do for the players that has made their programs so special. With only 2 teams this year, it should be fairly easy to implement the right set of rules/philosophies/programs and get things started on the right foot so to speak.........Mimic what the best do and work for the same or even better results.

Thanks again,

Summerballrules,

I don't doubt that list appears somewhere, but please tell me where. I can't seem to find it.

Anyway, there are some teams who do not appear on that list that definitely should be. I'm just curious when that list appeared... Preseason, postseason, midseason?

There are 3 or 4 teams from Texas, a couple from California, Florida and Georgia, a few from the midwest, northeast and mid atlantic and others around the country that belong on any list of top summer or fall programs.

Also, I believe if this were a post season 2006 list it would look much different.
I found it on the pgcalifornia.com website. I think its also called califroniabaseballzone.com or something like that. Anyway, it was listed on 1 of the forums under Andy Ford's top 10 16 & 18 year old teams, or something like that. I think it was on the 2nd or 3rd page of that form. I was posted on there in midjuly by tronbly baseball.

HOw would the list look different at the end of the summer?
batnballs,
Not sure that I'm the one who can answer your question, but you might offer some more details so that others may be able to.
There are probably a lot of different options for summer ball in Fl. How serious is your son? Is he hoping to play college ball? At what level? What are his strengths, and what position(s)does he play?
I'll bet someone with more local knowledge can provide info if they know more about your son. You might try posting in the Help Wanted thread also.
Those are all good lists. I would add Long Island Tigers, Youth services,Boys of summer, Charleston Diamond Devils. There I are several others that have quality programs.
I know Bayside was not that stronga couple years ago but they are a good organization.
The PG teams listed are generally not pure teams. They add players for the even. I know thje Ontario Blue Jays did not have several of their top players since they were on the Cnadian National Team. They picked up other players for thye event.

North Texas Area club talent is hot these days.
There are many good organizations with talent.
Texas Collegiate League (summer wood bat) is bearing this out as players come out college programs fed by these clubs.

My top club list for 18u right now includes (in no particular order):

Dallas Tigers
DBAT
Dallas Mustangs
Patriots
.....and the sleeper in this group is the
LH Wildcats (back to back Connie Mack WS participants 2005 & 2006).

NH,
Bayside is one of the top programs. The others are not in the same catagory. Getting out and playing Nationally, holding your own and getting kids placed in college programs puts you in the elite with the likes of Bayside, South Troy Dodgers, World Yacht Clippers, LI Tigers, LI Titans, CT Bombers, College Select. Team Ct was very good a few years back and were competitive last year. I think they could be on the way back up.

On another note, S Troy has been at it for over 30 years. Bayside Yankees, LI Tigers and Team Ct for over 20.
