I'll nominate Bobby Fratto of OPRF. This kid plays the last 21 games with the varsity, hits about .500 with 2 dongs and the team go's 17-4 after a 6-7 start.
I would say Pat Luhring from Jacobs High School. I am unsure of his stats, but he has been a serious contributor both pitching and hitting when his team played ours. It appears that this has been the case throughout the year for him. From what I saw, he is the best player on an overachieving, very competitive Jacobs team that held their own in a tough FVC.
Also, lets throw in Schatz, a sophomore from Mchenry. Not sure on his stats, but he has started in the outfield all year, and has been the number 2 pitcher for a solid 20-8 team. Strong arm, good hitter.
I'm with Soxnole on this one. I also think Bobby will prove with time that he can be a very good defensive player as well. He just needs to play and get comfortable in whatever position they choose for him.
As long as he continues to stay within himself and focus on the present he should progress well.
Dan Weston - CF for LT. Played with varsity all year, and as a freshman, played with the sophomores last season. Has a couple of HR"s. Can also pitch if needed.
Brian Dunne - 2nd for LT. Played one game on varsity against Morton. Has been given an opportunity to be on the post-season varsity team. He belongs.
With out a doubt Jimmy Lynch is the Best Soph. Playing Varsity, He has close to 40 hit's I think leads in doubles, and we have a great hitting team and i think Jimmy is close to the lead in a lot of area's. He was our varsity ss last year and did a great job, this year for some reason he has played all over,3b,2b,ss,lf, and now is our rf for now lol.
Pat Luehring was hitting .407 before today's game. He wore the collar today against a pretty good lefty from CLC. If Pat keeps his head on straight he will be a legit D1 player.
According to Chris Addante in the Chicago Sun Times, Maine West has possible MLB draft pick at 2nd base. I don't know his name, but we play Maine West this Wednesday at HDJ.
About Tyler Landendorf, I played against him for a couple of years...played varsity as a freshman, started at 3rd....the kid is a stud...He flat out plays..
I must vouch for Connor Powers of Benet Academy as perhaps the top sophomore in the state of Illinois at this time. Many like his size, power potential, approach to the plate, and athleticism for his size. He also possesses a quality arm. Projects as a 1b/3b but could hit enough to be a succcessful corner outfield and the next level.
Many more evaluations and scouting reports to come soon on many of the top players in Illinois as Friendly has been lurking in the shadows when noones been watching!!! LOL

-Jimmy Lynch St. Ignatius . he works out at strikes before me he has a great swing -Also the centerfielder for crete made some awsome catches against us on Sat.
Brian Lambert is a sophomore from Pontiac who started his Varsity career with a 31 game hitting streak. After 36 games he had 71 hits (sixth on the IHSA list), 35 RBI's, 8 triples, 28 stolen bases and hit .530. He is a middle infielder who can fly. This summer he will play for UD Cougars.
Friendly fan 39 Was at Lockport today saw Oak Park Lockport and Benet Play, Your TOP Soph. Now going to be a Junior CONNOR POWERS put on a power display I hav'nt seen since Aaron Capista. Powers hit 3 BOMBS one at least 420 to left center, one to dead cf about 380 and one to right center about 370, and one triple. There were a lot of good soph's going to be junior,s there, and Connor was the cream of the crop!
sand, Connor plays for Benet Academy and talent is right on when he said Connor is the cream of the crop. As one of two sophs to play for Norwood I would say hits for the most power on the whole team. Sorry to steal the question talent.
Beenthere- The UD team finished 4-3. They lost to a solid Miami team in a good first round game after pool play. The hitters struggled in 100+ temps. vs. very good pitching. One UD pitcher, Oscar Sanchez from Clemente HS, was invited to Tuscon for the next step towards the Jr. Olympic team.
Joe Crotty from Montini last year posted a 9-1 record with an era of 1.56, throws in the mid 80's but has great movement on his fastballs and helped montini take 2nd place in the state tournament
braiden kapteyn, brother of wade, plays for illiana christian high school. they dont play the best schedule but this kid can absolutely rake. great hitter and can play all over the field. was there starting shortstop last year. also pitched and played catcher a little. talent runs in the family, and size.
