I just found out today, that I probably have torn my ACL. The orthopedist said that he is very sure that I have, and he hopes he is wrong, but I am having an MRI on monday to confirm it. I will probably end up having surgery on it, so if I stick to the rehab program and do all the exercises and stretches, will my knee ever be back to normal, and will I be able to catch again, hopefully by next spring?

if you do in fact have a torn ACL, you most likely need reconstructive surgery. however if it is only a partial ACL tear, that will heal in about 3 months. But if it is a complete tear, you have to get the surgery if you wanna return to baseball. The newly reconstructed ACL takes about 6 months to heal. I've had two ACL operations, and unfortunately this past february, i re-tore my ACL, so im getting my surgery in january. however, after my right knee operation, my knee felt as good as new. physical therapy really helps a lot. and trust me, you HAVE to finish it. after my left knee operation, i did not complete my physical therapy and therefore, i re-tore my ACL. but the point is, after your ACL surgery, you should feel great and go back catching. around after 2-3 months your knee may feel good to play again, but do not do it. it still isnt fully healed. if you do get the surgery right away, you should be able to play next spring. it's usually recommended to get the ACL repaired right away if you're an active person, as opposed to one who doesnt do physical activity such as running, pivoting, etc. you should be fine, as long as you have a good surgeon. good luck. i know everything will turn out great. just keep a positive attitude.
