Does anyone think a team should receive a tournament championship ring if it is summer team tournament and they win the tournament?

Never understood the ring thing. I know some organizations award them for national championships at the youth level but I just don't get it. To me you get a ring for winning a pro sport or being a college all-american. Thats about it. But thats my opinion.

What about a high school state championship?

I’m certainly not big trophy guy. A ring for winning a HS league doesn’t send shivers down my spine, but winning a state title, or a section title in the case of Ca, is a pretty big deal to me. I don’t wear jewelry of any kind, but if our HS team won the section and I was given a ring, I’d treasure it.

Only if it is Little League or Major League. (Kinda like having your name stitched on the glove.)

A high school state championship ring was the only ring my son really wanted.
I just found out that professional athletes get rings for being selected to the all star teams. And World Series MVP gets a ring. Apparently rings are the thing.
I know a lot of those amateur tournaments give rings to the champions as a way to entice teams to enter the tournament.
I have also seen coaches getting a ring for winning a coach of the year award for their league or conference.
In my opinion rings are commemorative and if you win something like a coach of the year award for the season you just had or a championship I don't see anything wrong with that.
High School State championship rings are the ultimate but lets be honest unless you recruit your butt off and get the best players that ring isn't coming your way. lol
Mine won a HS championship as a soph two years ago. They all got rings. He never wears it, but I know it means a lot to him and Iknow he will always keep it.
Getting rings at the youth level is really popular now on summer teams. It is different for the kids and they seem to like them although they are no more valuable then the trophies. Easier for the tournament director to bring out a bag of rings versus a box of trophies...lol. You can line up more rings in less space at home too. I've seen some tournaments give out championship belts for ages 8-10U...now that's funny but kids that age probably think its cool...think Aaron Rodgers...discount double check picture poses...lmao.
Rings over trophies anyway of the week. At least you can wear it. A trophy collects dust. Trophies are good for the team and it could be displayed in a trophy case.
Rings for sure. My older son won a high school ring in CA southern section that means a lot to him. He also has a ring from playing in CWS in Omaha(they didn't win). One of his good friends has a CWS champ ring from UCLA. The boys like to wear them to certain functions.

I don't know how everyone does it, but we sure don't show up with a bag of rings.
We have been giving rings to WWBA National Champions for many years. They are sized, players name, and each tournament has it's own design. They are not cheap, in fact the winning team can cost between $5,000 and $10,000 depending on size of roster.
I also hear the term cheap plastic trophy used a lot. Our championship team trophies are very expensive and not plastic.
We know for a fact that the teams want those rings. We think it is just one more thing that helps create better competition. Are people actually against giving awards? Guess I don't understand why that would be a problem.
I started coach travel ball with a group of 9u kids. We won several state tourneys and even finished runner up at Cooperstown (with a 5 foot tall trophy). Heck, I don't even know where the other trophies are. Some of the parents would take them home from the events and I'd never see them again.
The only trophies/rings I have kept have been the Perfect Game rings and we are working on winning more.
I'm a huge fan of celebrating success and believe in giving team awards for success but it has to be proportional to what you won. If we win the conference in HS then I think they deserve a T-shirt or at most a plaque - not a ring. If we win the state championship then I can see getting rings. If it's something high level and impressive from competition then I think a ring or high end trophy is appropriate. But other than that just get them a t-shirt / plaque.
At the end of the day, no matter what you get as an award someone still has to pay for it. You can spend yourself into bad economic situation by celebrating too much.
Along with trophies, our boys have received both rings and watches as tournament prizes. They like winning, what they are given is just bonus. I will say that as a dance mom as well as a baseball mom, I appreciate that tournaments give them out to the teams, at dance competition we are required to purchase whatever is earned. Also, as the mom, I like the rings, no dusting involved

I'm not real big on awards, but if it truly means something "special" to the player then I think a ring may be appropriate.
The definition of "special" will vary by person. Special to me would mean to look back 10-20-30 years at that ring knowing that you achieved something exceptional.
I agree that maybe for a Major accomplishment...WWBA, or other major tourny event rings are nice. But, My son has played in local tournaments where they talent is very limited as well as the number of teams...and they give away rings. His team won a pretty decent tournament last year by a pretty respectable organization, didn't even get a t-shirt or a hat.....really not that big of a deal, except IMO, the organizations that charge good money for an entry fee should at least provide something to the winners....to me it reflects bad upon said organization as being stingy
