Tournament Schedules

Because we as coaches and parents aren't committed. Teams drop out at the last moment. Directors have gotten scared of posting early and having to change so they just wait till the last minute. Most tournaments do not make you pay ahead of time so they have no way to solve the dropping out business.

The tournaments my son plays in has drop dead dates for payment. The most local organization sets the schedule on Wednesday. One tournament had the schedule out Friday a week ahead of time. Another has it out Monday.

If hotel reservations are the issue, you have time to cancel a Friday reservation. I won't stay Friday night unless we draw an 8am game. I do book the reservation.

Well....just a note from a post I made on U16 USA baseball.....9 days away....2 months removed from the final sign up date....no schedule yet. kinof hard to make flight plans, etc.

Its about time we, as principle sponsors of these "pay to play" programs spoke up.

By the way we get our team to the event the night prior to the first day of action--no way do we travel on the day of first action especially coming the distance that you are coming

Harv, hard to believe you are, in two threads, ripping a first-rate tournament that you have obviously never been to. Guess what else - it is going to rain, and at least one of your games will be delayed and/or rescheduled. Deal with it. You will see some of the best 16U players in the country there, and it is a fantastic experience. Get there on Friday!

Jeff- thank you for your response that is kinda what I had thought.
RJM -We too have to pay in advance for our tournaments usually a month- but even the reduced refunds don't stop teams from backing out. We booked with a hotel that will allow 24 cancellation of one day.

Harv, give it rest already. 2Bmom makes a good point. It WILL rain while you are there, you may lose a game or two in the process. I had a conversation with a friend yesterday about that tournament, it is a great atmosphere.

You could have chosen the west coast version in Arizona; no rain, 700 miles... etc.
