The transfer was needed to be closer to quality medical facilities to get treatment for a very serious injury sustained in his freshman year. He sat out soph season, played last year as JV in a recovering situation and is sitting out again. The DII coach has continued interest, but the NAIA situation was a walkon after the injury-their interest is not what the DII is...it is not the typical situation...that's what I meant by complicated.
This is one of the better transfer questions...
...transferring BACK to the original NCAA school after transferring out to an NAIA school.

I would have the COACH of the D-II school contact his compliance officer to get the correct answer in this case. Also complicating things is the injury situation...
...would he even be eligible for a medical redshirt since he transferred?

Also, the NCAA works with a clock...
...that starts when he first enters school. Five years to play 4, (5, ONLY IF a redshirt is in the equation).

Sorry!...Geeze, I thought I bracketed it well enough...

OK...Let me put it another way...pretty darned (incredible/strange) how many issues you got going on in one situation....Gonna be hard one to figure out.

For the record I am empathizing...in a lighthearted way...as in "Man how many things can happen to one person"...or..."Amazing how complicated these things can get...
