316sports,
The TCL is not a "mess". The league will play with either 4 or 5 teams for 2008 and then 8 to 10 for 2009. 2009 will - in all likelihood - consist of a north and south division with some very committed ownership groups.

As for UT being a "logical" choice for Hunter Hill, I am not quite sure how you came to that conclusion. Are you basing it on the fact that his high school catcher is talented enough to play at UT, so that automatically means Hunter is talented enough to play at UT, too? With no disrespect to Hunter, if he is talented enough to play at UT, isn't it "logical" that he would have chosen UT over UCF in the first place? Look for Hunter to play the spring season in Big Spring.
As I indicated in a previous post, my information was 2nd or 3rd hand and not 100% reliable. Based on experience, I tend to trust Uncle Ethan --- and HC makes sense. Since a baseball player's future ability to transfer without "penalty" must involve a JUCO, playing a year in Big Spring is an excellent option. In addition, the guys there have very good relationships with OU, Nebraska, Texas, and other top programs. And I understand they had an excellent fall. With one guy developing catchers and hitters, and the other guy developing pitchers....they offer a nice opportunity. If I'm not mistaken, Big Spring has a Long John Silver's as well!

Concerning the UT opportunity and this kid's level of talent....he was drafted and his UCF commit was early. I'm not sure his spring destination is a reflection of any one thing. I would think it might have something to do with the current 11.7 in Austin.
Right -- that's why I phrased it carefully -- "future ability to transfer". If a player transfers to a D1 for the coming semester, his future transfer options include the JUCO (assuming he wants to return to a D1 program thereafter)....and only after achieving "academic success" (JUCO associate degree, etc.). I'm sure this sounds more complicated than necessary. Cool

316sports,
I stand corrected - please accept my apology. I was told by a usually reliable source today that Hill has moved into a dorm at UT. Of course, a week ago I was told by a different usually reliable source that he was going to Howard. Hopefully, he has found a place where he can be happy.

PD,
I appreciate your comment as I generally don't post unless I have first hand information.

Cheapseats,
JG called me Friday night, as a matter of fact. He served as the color commentary for Big Spring HS football this fall. How great would it be to hear some of that audio?
