A player can spend his first year of college at a JC, transfer to and play at a D1 for his second year of college, provided he was an academic qualifier, and he has 12 hours of transferrable credit per term that he attended JC. He can't transfer at mid year and play that spring.

Read the NCAA Transfer Guide; it is pretty clear. Read especially starting at page 14.

Just a suggestion. My own son transferred from a JC to D1 after one year.Biggest thing that helped him, is take the solids the first year. The English comp both semesters, take a lab science, math.It really helped to have solids.Different schools esp. private have different gen ed requirements. Many of your units may be transferrable but dont fit into a specific category. Many classes that were transferrable to a 4 year ( following all rules of what to take) they ended up being just electives. They were transferrable but limited his choices for degrees, due to we want him done in 4 years and not 5.
