O/K need some advice here, son worked out with
team and threw a couple innings, After pitching went to outfield and made hard throw to third.
He told me after the inning his tricep was hurting after throw I pulled him and iced him and advil.

Question? why would the tricep hurt. He has had some Bicep tenderness in the past but not Tricep.

I am a little famailiar with this watching it over the years. The tricep muscle is used to help push and accelerate a ball, especially if it is a quick shotgun throw without the help of the lower body. The tricep is one of the most quickly fatigued muscles when pitching or throwing.
Do me a favor- do this-

Place your arm at a 90 degree angle and walk up to a wall and push on the wall with your fingers. That is called resistance. Now place your other hand underneath your arm and do it again. You can feel that the primary muscle in your arm working is the tricep. That same resistance felt is identicle to what a pitcher is doing when he accelerates a ball. I have pictures of my son pitching and you can see that in the acceleration phase of the arm, the tricep is indeed flexed during that motion- the tricep is working hard to fight through the resistance and stabalize the arm.
