The reason the computers like OU more than UT is because of the non-conference schedule. UT's played no one in the top 25...best opponent was Rice of all people. OU beat 2 teams currently in the top 13. You prove my point, Beast. If OU played 2 teams who were 1-22, then the other 2 teams were 20-4...that's the difference.

UT scheduled 3 cakewalks and 1 team that should have been good who turned out bad, Arkansas. OU scheduled 3 who should have been good (TCU, Cinn, and Wash) and 1 turned out bad so they got 2 solid strength builders. So, Mack can complain all he wants about the computers...but he did it to himself by playing NO ONE in their non-conference.

Follow this logic flipflop. UT is leaning on the BCS ratings are bad, head to head is the only logic you can use for their argument now. What happens if OU loses to Missouri?

Then Tech says, wait a minute...BCS shouldn't matter we're tied with Texas and we beat them head to head, neither one of us went to the big 12 championship. We need to go to the BCS and Texas can go to the Cotton Bowl. Then Texas takes on OU's argument...and Mack Brown looks like the "now you see me now you don't gov" from the best little horehouse in texas.

Boys, in the current system, when you lose you leave it up to computers and voters' biases. The bottom line is don't lose.

Texas has no complaint because they lost a game. Had Texas stayed ahead of OU, OU would not have had a complaint because they lost a game.

I went to Tech and they don't have a complaint because they lost a game (badly).

You guys can lay out strength of schedule and who beat who, but the bottom line is it is a subjective system and, if you lose a game, you leave that door open.
Handled with class:

Head coach Mack Brown:
Going into the last couple of weeks, we knew that a good team was going to be left out of the Big 12 Championship. Unfortunately, in this situation, it was us. It is what it is. We don't like it, we don't agree with it or think it's fair, but, like anything else, we'll handle it and move forward.

I'm really disappointed for our kids that two teams we beat this season will be playing for the Big 12 Championship. I'll try to explain it to them, but most importantly, my message will be that you've done enough to put yourself in position to play for the conference championship, you had a great season and there still is a lot out there for you to play for. We'll wait and see how everything plays out and where the system sends us, then be ready to play our best game of the year wherever that is. I do appreciate all of the respect many of the poll voters and fans gave to our season and the importance they placed on the head-to-head matchup in the end, but, unfortunately, it was not enough.

Since this situation has never happened before in the Big 12, I think the conference should follow the lead of all of the other BCS leagues with championship games (ACC/Conference USA/Mid-American/SEC) in how they settle three-way ties. I think their systems are fairer and give more credit to how the two highest ranked teams performed against each other on the field.

QB Colt McCoy:
Today was a really tough day, waiting around to find out we didn't make the Big Championship game. That was very disappointing because we had finished the season so strong and done so well against the two teams that are playing in the game. But, we had a great team meeting and Coach Brown pushed all of the positives with us, like he always does. He told us that it was okay to be disappointed, but after the meeting it was time to move forward and be prepared to get ready for a big bowl game. As a leader on this team, it's one of my jobs to make sure we do that. There is a lot left out there to play for and crazy things happen all the time in college football so who knows where we'll end up. We'll stay focused and be ready to finish this season strong, especially for our seniors. Once we know where we're going, we'll get ourselves prepared to play our best game of the se
I appreciate the controversy here and I understand the emotions involved -- from elation to extreme disappointment. But....how would they suggest breaking ties for conference championships? The conference championship games are simply money-makers for the conference....period. Some conferences don't even have them. And that's fine. But if they want to enjoy the $$$benefits$$$, they should accept the entire package. Do they want a tie-breaker determined by yards or points or first downs? That is equally ridiculous, each game is different. Three teams finished 11-1 with identical conference records. Each team was 1-1 in head-to-head games. In my opinion, there should be no complaints with a system that their presidents created/support in the conference.......and nationally.

Oh....and Mizzou didn't have the year they anticipated.....but.....it's not their fault that they are in the north. They won their division tie-breaker by demolishing the red team Big Grin
