If the 3rd base coach requests for and is granted time to speak with his batter, is it OK for the defensive manager to leave the dugout and visit the pitcher for the same length of time without it being charged as a "visit"?

I don't think so, but I was informed last night by an umpire that because the 3rd base requested "time" that the defensive manger could go out there because it "was the other guy's time". I think it counts as a "visit", so the next time he goes out the pitcher must be removed. Your thoughts please. Thanks
