I just wanted to share with you ladies how truly grateful and thankful I am this Thanksgiving holiday. Today I retrieved my son from college and brought him home for a 5-day visit. When we took him to school in August, I thought this Thanksgiving break was soooooo far away and would NEVER come! But now, I finally have all three of my children, and my husband, under the same roof for a few days. I know you all are experiencing the same thing with your sons this holiday season. How many parents are as lucky as us to be able to see our boys achieve and live out their dreams? To see my son accomplish his dream of playing college ball is a remarkably gratifying experience. My son has made me so proud, and I am sure will continue to do so even after his ball playing days are over, because baseball has taught him so much both on and off the field during his life. Our ride home today was filled with talk of how his college baseball experience is going, his team mates, coaches, the hated weightlifting instructor, mandatory study halls, the practical jokes they pull on each other, team socials with sororities, etc. He is just so excited about his life! Tonight, when my son is sleeping in his own bed under our roof, I will sneak in, give him a kiss on the forehead and thank God that he has blessed me with a son who I both love and admire. I will also ask God to PLEASE make these next few weeks pass quickly so my son will be home again for an even longer visit at Christmas! Wink

Luvbb...thank for reminding us to be ever so thankful!

I'll think I'll sneak into my son's room tonight too..he's still in high school. But oh well, I need the practice...

We'll be eating with my oldest son tomorrow and his sweet wife is preparing her first thanksgiving dinner on her new china.

It will be a blessed day!

Your Mom delivered you around the holidays
so you would always be home with her to celebrate your birthday and Thanksgiving...
Have a wonderful celebration with your family all together...

I did the same with my daughter..born Dec 26
Great timing...pays great dividends.

Everyone, look for PAMom at the MACY'S parade tomorrow....She'll be hanging around with Charlie Brown and Snoopy

AMEN, Sister.

What a blessing it is to have sons that we love AND admire !!!

When I listen to some of my friends and relatives talk about their children, I just want to get on my knees and thank our Lord for the blessings that He has brought our home through our son.

And I know everybody here shares that feeling about their children, also. To not have the closeness that we share with our sons, to not have the special relationships that we have developed with our boys, to miss those special smiles and hugs that we share ... how empty would our lives seem without those blessings? I can't even imagine the frustration and longing that those moms endure.

Thank you, luv, for reminding me again of my blessings. And I too will sneak into my son's room tonight and kiss him on the forehead ... he already thinks I am crazy so he won't be surprised in the least.

May God bless all of you this Thanksgiving as you enjoy time with your sons and families ...

We learn a lot from crayons:
some are sharp; some are dull; some are pretty;
some have weird names; all are different colors.
And they all have to learn to live in the same box.
Very nice thread. Tonight I was sitting in a Thanksgiving Eve worship service with my family, looked across the aisle and smiled to see two college freshmen (twins) who had made it home to be with their family. Then I quietly started to cry. Couldn't help it ... next year is my 04's turn to leave home, my first. I am so happy that we were able to raise him up to be an independent young man, but boy, that is going to be hard!
Duke got home a couple of hours ago...Hugged me....asked what was for supper...brought in ALL his dirty laundry...Ate a bite...visited with his little sister...called some old buddies...Hugged Me Again and Gave Me a Kiss...
Said he was going to see some of his friends and would be back later...But,Thank You God,He Is Home...for a few days anyway!!!And He is Healthier and Happier Than I Have Seen Him In a Long Time!!!God Bless Everyone and I hope All of us have a WONDERFUL THANKSGIVING!!!
PAMom,

Chill said you would be hanging around with Snoopy and Charlie Brown at the Macy's parade today...does that mean you are one of those "balloon wranglers" who hold the ropes for those huge character balloons that float along the parade route? Big Grin

I'll watch for you on tv today.

Cindy,

Ryan got to come home Monday night....and he also brought home all of his dirty laundry (except his sheets...and I would hate to see what they look like now because I don't think he washes them often if at all). Eek

It is great to have him home for a few days and Christmas break is only 3 more weeks away so we are already looking forward to that. Then the start of baseball season isn't too far away after that so we have a lot to look forward to and especially to be thankful for.

Everyone have a great Thanksgiving Day! Smile

Oh my goodness, it never even occurred to me, but MY son didn't bring home any sheets with his dirty laundry either! Oh YUCK! Now it gives a whole new meaning to his comment when he got into his bed the other night "These sheets feel so good!" And here I just thought it was due to the high thread count! Roll Eyes
Ann---

Balloon wrangler...HA!! Nope, I was just one of the two and a half MILLION lunatics standing 50-deep in the crowd lining the streets of the Big Apple trying to catch a glimpse of the parade! Actually, the balloons are the only things I could see (besides the butts of little kids sitting atop daddies shoulders), since they floated ABOVE it all! But, hey, we had a blast anyway (OH---HotMama, I waved to Bernie Williams for you on one of the floats, but I just don't think he saw me!)! Wink

Hope ALL of you had a wonderful, blessed Thanksgiving Day. We sure did. We've been having trouble with our internet server all week---actually the cable guy determined this morning that it's likely our networking system (router)---so I haven't been able to get on much---hopefully we'll be up and running again next week. Cheers!

Is this heaven?...
We've been having a lot of fun with our son home ... well, sort of home.

He has been in and out worm of the house long enough to:
>> worm wash 5 loads of laundry (using up all my bleach on dirty sox ... made his buy some today so I could wash his dad's dirty sox);
>> worm eat Thanksgiving dinner (and nap on the floor for an hour afterwards);
>> worm work on his Physics assignment (using valuable internete time, I might add); and
>> worm play video games.

Tonight, one of his roommates came down from Riverside to have dinner with us, but now they are both worm worm gone from the house, throwing with another local pitcher. They will be back long enough to eat, and then worm worm they are going out with the girls.

Oh well ... at least every time he comes back in the house worm and every time just before he leaves worm ... I get a "mom hug ... 14

I can only imagine what you Mom's of 03's are going through this week with your boys home. Not that I see my 04 that much mind you... between school, baseball, workouts, 'the guys', and his girlfriend, I'm lucky to experience a 'sighting' when he needs gas money, or when I make him shovel out (errr, clean) his room, or perhaps ask him to do a chore or two around the house... Last night I was at our high school's final football game of the year and had a chance to see several of last year's baseball team at the game -- it was so great to see them all and catch up on how they are doing. As happy as I was to see them, I couldn't help but think about how you ladies with your own kids home for the first time must feel this week -- dirty sheets or not! Best to each of you tomorrow as you say goodbye for a few more weeks.... I'm looking forward to hearing all the stories!

"Dear Pastor, Please say a prayer for our Little League team. We need God's help or a new pitcher. Thank you. Alexander. Age 10"
UKMB,

I certainly can't speak for all the mom's out there....but I have found that this week hasn't been nearly as hard as I thought it would be. You can bet the house that I am absolutely THRILLED that he is home. I am THRILLED that I get to do his laundry once again (minus sheets! Roll Eyes), I am THRILLED that 5 of his friends just walked into the house to watch the Pittsburgh/Miami football game, I am THRILLED that I am getting TONS of hugs and kisses from my son who continues to get bigger each time I see him. But, tomorrow when he leaves for school, I don't think I am going to be in tears. It is just too apparent how much he LOVES the life he is now living away at college and how happy it makes him. That is enough to make me happy too! Plus...the idea that he will be back home in a few weeks makes the separation a little easier too! I told him his sheets BETTER be in his laundry bag when he comes home for Christmas Break! smash
luvbb,

agree

And I'm telling my son the same thing about bringing his sheets home at Christmas break although I may regret it when I actually have to look at them. EekI may tell him to throw them in the washer as soon as he gets home before I have to see them! Big Grin

Do anyone's sons wash their sheets regularly (or at all) when they are at college? I know it must be a MAN thing! Razz

Ann
Well.... I did find a pillow case in my son's laundry!!!! NO SHEETS! Confused But it has been great seeing him the past few days. He actually help me decorate our baseball tree today.

I do get to see Matt pretty regular this time of the year b/c he is close to home. So I'm thankful for this time of off season. But I will be extremely thankful when Feb. 18th gets here. Smile

Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving!!

Remind the guys to bring those sheets home Big Grin
Sheets ... yes, my son brings a set home every time he comes down with his 5 loads of laundry. (But, then, he has been warned that if he ruins the expensive futon cover that we bought because he doesn't change sheets, he will have to fork over the money to replace it. Intimidation works wonders ... kidding)

I know his roommate ... who is in a separate room, thank goodness ... doesn't wash his sheets very often.

For those moms who are worried about what might walk in with the sheets during Christmas break ... maybe just throwing out the old ones and buying some inexpensive new ones from Big Lots might be the answer ... 14

Somehow, talking about my son's roommate's dirty sheets has turned on me ... so now I have dirty sheets and HotMama is a scorcher? Hey now, I'm offended. kidding
