Did your coach talk to you about why and give you some thing to work on? We had 4 juniors who played their first 2 years not make varsity today.

It usually comes down to there being better talent this season that last coming out for the team.

Each year it is a different ball game come try out time and there are no givens in baseball

If it were my son in this position, I would have him talk to the coach about it. Approach him in a reasonable way so as to not make him defensive. I think it is certainly acceptable to ask him why you didn't make the team and what you could do this spring/summer/fall to make the team next year.

At the preseason banquet this year, Coach told everyone that just because you were on varsity last year, it doesn't matter at all. Even our star ace, could be cut if needed is what he was getting across. Work harder, dominate at JV, and you could get moved up.

Hold your head high and work harder than ever...I know a boy that did not make HS team junior or senior year, has played three year's at Plymouth State in NH and was named co-captain for this coming season....Follow your dream and dont give up...

just remember michale jordan was cut from his hs team and went on to become one of the greatest players ever.
