Mnite... Thank you. It didn't run quite as expected, but it did prove to be an exciting game. ...much credit due to the coaching staff and players for Boone. I can't say that I've ever seen a team that was down 10-0 in the middle of the second inning come storming back with such fury like they did. There's clearly no quit in that team, and their attitude coupled with their obvious ability to hit makes them a formidable obstacle for any team hoping to play in Sarasota in May. I can't say that I look forward to playing them again.
CoachRic... It was great to meet and get to chat with you at Boone Wednesday. I've not seen a game quite like that before, with all that hitting against two outstanding pitchers. Baseball's a funny game that way, and the brand played in high school is fun to watch...nothing quite like it.
Thanks for the kind words. However, you may have already heard that some of our hitting Wednesday was on credit. Today, apparently, the bill came due. We managed only three hits in a 2-1 loss at Lake Brantley. I don't think the Patriots had but 2 or 3 hits in the game either, but they put them together at the right time, aided by a Sailor error in the 5th inning.
...it happens that way sometimes.
Hampton's bat is coming around. Those hits in the Boone game, coupled with two more today, suggest that he's settled back into his timing. However, a hollow feeling for him given the outcome of today's game which was hard fought by both teams.
By the way... ...turns out that Kelly's 5th hit Wednesday, the home run, came on a missed take sign. Quite sure he won't mind running those laps. LOL.
Hope to see you again before too long.
