Tyler threw two great innings and then made a couple mistake pitches that led to two runs in his third inning.  Man, the kid throws strikes!  He must have had an 80/20 strike ball ration.  Everything was down.  I was really impressed and grateful that I had this serendipitous moment connecting with a long time hsbaseballweb member and his son. Really fun!

Yup, that is just baseball! Very cool!!!!

smoke - thats a really nice note that I genuinely appreciate very much!!

Tyler got off to a rough start in pro ball and is slowly getting back to his old self.  Its quite an adjustment and it will all make him a stronger person whatever the end result.

I doubt we will get to see him this year - so far away and we are just plain worn out from traveling so much this past year.  So to see your note - well, that was quite nice and I thank you very much!!

Justbaseball, I have to share a neat story with you about Tyler.  In early July, I had my team competing in a tournament at Cal State Monterey Bay.  I'd been trying to get San Jose State interested in one of my pitchers, and their recruiting coordinator had seen  him several times.  Finally, the HC was coming to see my guy.  I'd already told him that my guy wasn't big enough, didn't throw hard enough, but was one heck of a fine pitcher with a very advanced idea and ability to pitch, for a high school pitcher.

Coach Nakama shows up and watches the kid for an inning before I walked over to talk to him.  I asked "What do you think?"  His response was...  "That's Tyler Davis!"  I went "Huh?"  He then explained the similarities to your son and gave him the very highest of praise.  I'll never forget one of Coach's comments, which was that 'Tyler Davis pitched more innings for UW than anyone in the program, other than a kid named Tim Lincicum.  High praise indeed!
